In a culture where nearly anything seems to go, holiness seems to be a foreign word that is difficult to comprehend. clarkomania -and by reminding me of ways I've sinned against Him so I can clear it up with Him daily

co-host- This morning I was reading the a chapter on gods holiness and it really struck that we really need to begin with praising god for his holiness, as we do this we realize the darkness that is in are life

clarkomania- remember Isaiah, when he met up with God's holiness? He was so awestruck, and very aware of his shortcomings!
pudger- And Elijah while in the cave.
clarkomania- And Moses and the burning bush? God told him not to come near because he would die if he did...God's holiness and sinful man

Rosebud- The human part of us can't comprehend the holiness of God
Rosebud- He is so mighty
cwt- can you imagine what it must of been like for Moses to get a look of God's holiness...He had to cover his face with a veil because his own face glowed
Faith- That is true. We limit His power in our own minds.

clarkomania- And the peopel of Israel when they made the golden calf? God's holiness demanded that they die for their sin....same today
clarkomania- but for the grace of God!
Lea- isn't it incredible that now, because of Jesus and the work He did for us on the cross, the Bible says we can come boldy to the throne of grace that we might find help in our time of need.....no barriers

clarkomania- I think my Dad was the one who instilled such an awareness of God's holiness in my life,....an awareness of Him watching me

Lea- we receive it by faith in what Jesus did for us

Rosebud- WE grow to recognize it in Him and we then want to become holy
Lizette- when consecrated to Him.
Rosebud- I want to grow more in holiness, more today than yesterday
Lizette- so our holiness is a gradual process
cwt- lizette, we are consecrated to God when we accept Jesus as our personal saviour and ask forgiveness for our sins

Faith- It is a life long process of growth.

clarkomania- God's spirit in us shows us a little at a time as to what needs to be changed in us to make us more pleasing to Him

clarkomania- o.k., so what are practical ways we can "remain in Him"?
co-host- We can't bear the fruit it's the Holy Spirit
Faith- We are set aside for His special use.
cwt- but aswe talked about earlier we strive to be more like God in His holiness....this is what we can't do in our own strenth. It is the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives

Faith- I think the key is calling on God's power to free us from sin.

clarkomania- I think that as we read the Bible, and live our lives, God brings back to our minds what we've read, and puts a "check" in our hearts and minds when we do something wrong
Lea- and being surrendered to the will and work of the Lord
clarkomania- at least that's a big part of it

Feb- What happens when you have somewhat of a distraction to your spiritual walk that you cannot simply remove? I.e. a spouse who is struggling with something?
cwt- it is acknowledging your sin and confessing them to God and then by faith asking the Holy Spirit to fill you and control your life

clarkomania- hmmm, that's tough
cwt- we also need to present every area of our life to God
Faith- Yes that is a good question.
Rosebud- Pray without ceasing
clarkomania- you are not responsible for your partner's walk with God, only yours. Grow it with God!
Rosebud- press in for that person
cwt- great points
cwt- your are responsible for your own relationship with God
clarkomania- and be a faithful partner to your mate, meaning live the way God wants you to and be aware your mate is watching and thinking
cwt- take the problem to God and leave it there
Faith- That is true. We are not responsible for the sins of another person.
Feb- I do pray for him and I know that God hears and answers prayers. I feel guilty though when I'm experiencing God's love and grace and mercy and he is floundering...

clarkomania- yes, I have often felt that way. I feel like we're in two different boats on two different sides of plexiglass!
Bernie- What is that verse that talks about by your attitude or spirit you can impact your unbelieving mate?
Feb- And it's hard to listen to someone who is negative most of the time, and then try to keep your positive attitude. But if I don't listen, that hurts him.
clarkomania- Ist or 2nd Peter 3
cwt- don't feel guilty for the love and grace that God has shown you...use it to keep you strong in this situation
Rosebud- As you continue to bask in His love, I think it will overflow, spill out onto others

co-host- When we ask Christ into are life we are indwelt with the spirit, but we are not filled at this time, we can still be carnel
Faith- That without words an unbelieving spouse may we won over to Christ. By seeing the reverence in their partner. Something along those lines.
clarkomania- I don't believe it is just talking about an unbelieving mate either....may include mate not walking with the Lrod, although a believer. Just a thought.

cwt- spiritual breathing is when you realize that you have sin in your live and you need to confess it to God
Lea- I tried but couldn't find it, glad you did that is a great scripture
clarkomania- I read it all the time, but couldn't for the life of me remember whether it was 1st or 2nd Peter!
cwt- you exhale by confessing you sin
clarkomania- hmmm, interesting!
cwt- and inhale by surrendering your control of your livfe back to God
co-host- This was an amazing concept for me when I heard it

Faith- And so often we do tend to try and control things ourselves.
Bernie- It put allowing the spirit to control my life as something that could be more "natural" more "automatic"...so I actually think about doing it that way....breath out, breath in
cwt- it allows you to keep short list with God...sin short circuts the Holy Spirit's power in our lives

co-host- There are times when fear is in contol of our life ,this when the spriit is not, this is when we , need to confess to God and ask him to fill us and empowe us.
Faith- And I think as we get to know Him better Lizette, we also begin to understand His will for us.
