Moving from Guilt to Grace

Someone phones you and suddenly your world is turned into a flurry of activity. Deep in your heart you know you should not have said yes to your friend's request. You know she was attempting to manipulate you. You felt so guilty by what she said you felt you didn't have any choice. You feel anything but grace in this situation and wonder how you could turn this situation around. God has not intended for us to have false guilt. He is a God of grace. Please join us as we discuss the process of moving from guilt
to grace.

1. What is the source of guilt?
2. What is grace? Describe God's grace at work in your life.
3. What is the difference between assuming responsibility and feeling
guilt?
4. How do we extend God's grace to others?
5. How can we do this without extending ourselves?

What is grace? Describe God's grace at work in your life.

Hi marge
marge
hi all! How are you?
cwt
Welcome to our discussion on Turning Guilt into grace
marge
That sounds great to me.
cwt
we're all fine how are you
spud
We are just talking about the source of guilt do you have any idea's Marge?
cwt
we talked about our expectations and satan
marge
Guilt is not of God, grace is of God. His mercies and grace are new every morning.
spud
This is so true.
spud
I think another big source is our accuser!
cwt
so of we are feeling guilty than we should know that it is not from God
spud
Your right!
marge
sometimes we get so into ourselves we forget who our source is.
cwt
we sure do
spud
We are notorious to listen the accuser lies!
cwt
what kinds of ways does the accuser try and make us feel guilty?
marge
Romans 8 1 says now therefore there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus!!
spud
this is so true marge
cwt
that is a great verse marge
spud
He condemns us by telling us we will never be good enough!
............................ ET left.............
marge
Every and everyway He can.We have to realize we all make mistakes. We need to learn from them and go on serving in His name in His love
cwt
I think satan tries and make us feel insufficient so that we won't try
spud
This is so true!
marge
Christianity is a very active relationship with God.
cwt
he also brings up past sins to make us feel bad and make us believe that God is disappointed with us
spud
The accuser maliciously uses this guilt - in the disguise of conviction from the Spirit - to imprison us and keep us bound.
marge
If we get lazy we can become depressed and self condemning!! That is when satan sneaks in.
spud
this is so true.
marge
We have to be actively serving everyday. Not just listening and doing nothing for the cause of Jesus Christ.
cwt
so true
spud
There is another true source of guilt and this is the conviction of the spirit!
marge
Well good be cwt@spud. God bless you both!!
spud
I think sometimes we get the two mixed up! How do we know the difference?
marge
Yes conviction of the Holy Spirit is the one we want to have.
cwt
I think that for us to know who it is than is making us feel this way we need to stay in the word. Ephesians 6:17 talks of the sword of the Spirit that can slay
the accuors
marge
He who knows to doth good and doest notthis is sin!! We know what is right and wrong!!
............................ marge left.............
cwt
so often it is a choice as to who we will follow
cwt
should we try another question yet
spud
I think when the spirit convicts us about sin in our lives, we will indeed experience great remorse at the gravity of our sin. We won't feel condemned.
cwt
and if we are keeping in the word we know whether it is quilt or conviction
spud
Your totally right!
spud
What's grace?
spud
Grace is unmerited favor. This the Greek definition!
spud
This is so true.
spud
There times when I don't extend grace to others around me but
spud
god extends grace toward me!
cwt
me too. Thank goodness God doesn't attach any strings the way we do
spud
God has been showing me that since he has showing me grace I need to extend it to those around me!
spud
We can be so fickle at times!
cwt
I like the idea that even though we weren't deserving of his grace He would have died on that cross even of it was for only me.
spud
Yeah that's amazing!
spud
What's the difference between assuming responsibilty and feeling guilty?
spud
this is a great question

............................ marge left.............
cwt
I suppose when you are assuming responsiblity you shouldn't feel guilty
spud
There are times I will do something for someone and I did because I felt guilty!
............................ lily joined.............
spud
We need to be clear on what our responsibility is!
cwt
welcome lily
spud
Hi Lily!
lily
Type Hello
spud
We are talking about moving from guilt to Grace!
lily
Wonderful
cwt
we are just talking about the difference between assuming responsiblity and feeling guilt
lily
Prayer is important
spud
This is true!
spud
We need pray so we know the difference between the two!
cwt
I think when it is our responsiblity or something that we have committed to we need to do it and not feel guilt
lily
Spending time alone with God helps to make things look clearer
cwt
but is we are doing something because we are pressured into that I don't think this is right
spud
Lilly what do you think the differences are?
lily
It's good to say no to some things. We need to know what our limitations are.
spud
This is so true!
spud
It takes time sometimes to actually know what they are!
cwt
another thing I've heard of having a mission statement for you life and then only doing the things that fit with that
spud
This certainly would help you be focused!
cwt
that way you wouldn't have to feel guilt
lily
People may try to get us to feel guilty for saying no. That's probably why we need to stay in constant communication with Lord.
cwt
that is so true.
lily
Short prayers throughout the day help.
lily
Even if we just cry out for help to the Lord.
spud
You are so right lily
spud
Why don't pray right as we close this evening!
spud
Let's pray that the lord would help us in this!
cwt
great
lily
Lord, help us to keep communication open with you.
spud
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much for this evening. I ask father that we know the difference between guilt and condemnation. May we first of all
listen to your voices
lily
Help us to remember your grace is sufficient.
spud
We ask that you would help us to take responsibility when you give it to us!
spud
Help us to know when to say no!
lily
And when to say yes
spud
Father we thankyou that you are all and all and that you will enable us to extend grace to those around us.
spud
We want to commit this evening to you.
spud
Continue to mold us make us. We love you. In Jesus name Amen!
lily
Thankyou, Lord
cwt

lily
