There are wounds in life cut so deeply they seem to leave irreparable damage. In an ironic way, we know that if these wounds are not dealt with they will continue a lifetime of destruction within us. It is a very difficult thing to get a handle on these terrible pains and to allow healing to begin to take place. This is difficult but possible if we focus on the power and strength that is available to us. Please join us as we walk through some of this process together.
- Why is it so difficult to accept challenging situations in life?
- How do many women deal with a hurting situation?
- How can we deal with our emotions in a positive way?
- Where can we receive help for healing?
- How can we deal with anger or unforgiveness in a healthy manner?

cwt-- Why is it so difficult to accept challenging situations in life?
Sunshine-- Sometimes it is because we realize we aren't in control.
Spud-- Because we feel out of control
cwt --I was just going to write the same this spud -- life gets taken out of our control and we feel powerless
sunshine-- So often we can feel any change will be bad...not realizing it may give us an opportunity to grow.
Cwt-- It is hard to see things not go our way or the way that we had dreamed
Cwt-- great point sunshine
Faith --We might feel life has been unfair to us.
Sunshine-- The challenges upset status quo...and I'm a "stable Mable"!
Cwt-- diffcult situations sure do shake us up and take us out of our comfort zone
Spud--this is so true
Spud --We want to be safe

cwt -How do many women deal with a hurting situation?
Faith --Very often we try to hide our hurt from others. Sometimes we deny the problem or that we are hurting.
sunshine --Sometimes I've wanted to hide, to isolate myself.
Spud-- First of all we deny the situation even exists
cwt --I know that while I am processing I tend to hide from people and the situation
sunshine --Someone once said, we tend naturally to be either a skunk or a turtle.
Spud --thats interesting!
cwt --a skunk or a turtle yeh
sunshine-- And we've probably all known both.
cwt --I think I've been both lol
Spud --I think I'm a turtle when it's directed at me!
Sunshine-- I understand, cwt...too well!
Cwt-- not the most flattering picture
Sunshine-- Makes me think of one evening when I took my dog outside. Suddenly there was a skunk between me and the door...with the business end toward me.
cwt --yikes
sunshine --Pretty uncomfortable feeling to be close to a skunk, isn't it?
Cwt-- not pleasant
Faith --That is for sure.
Cwt-- I look back in embarassment when I've been a skunk
Sunshine-- In some ways, though, can't being a turtle be just as bad for us and for those we love?
cwt yes...I just don't see it as being as embarassing
sunshine-- LOL
Faith-- I am embarrassed that I was a turtle at one time. Because I was hurting I did used to isolate myself from people.
Cwt-- denial prevents us from healing and moving on
Faith-- No one ever knew the real me. I was wearing a mask and was afraid they might find out things about me that I was ashamed of.
cwt ---the wound never gets healed properly so it festers
Faith-- Very true cwt. Denial makes us stay in the problem instead of admitting it and moving through it.
Spud-- God's word says the truth will set us free!
sunshine --The problem is...sometimes healing takes time.
cwt --so....How can we deal with our emotions in a positive way?
Spud-- It's important to be thankful in the mids of our circumstances
Cwt-- Yes healing can take time but denial does not allow the healing to take place because you are ignore the problem
Faith --True. God chooses our circumstances but we choose how we go through them.
Sunshine--Thankfulness can be a real key, like you say, Spud
cwt --I had one concellor tell me that healing is like an onion...
Spud --What I mean by this is that we can be consumed by everything but if we focus our eyes on Jesus things do seem a little brighter
Cwt-- a onion has many layers and healing takes place 1 layer at a time
Faith-- I like that.
Spud --There was a time when I went through a real difficult time emotionly, my father would encourage me to think of 10 things I was thankful for. this really seemed to help.
cwt --I think you are right spud, in the midst of trials it is helpful to keep our eyes focused on Christ
Faith-- That is good.
Sunshine-- I remember 1 time when I found focusing on even 3 things to give thanks for helped me.
Cakelady-- Sometimes we dont even recognize when we are in the middle of pain, at least right away. Then God reveals it to us .
Spud --I had to also try to see the truth in the midst of emotions
Faith --So often we dwell on everything that is wrong instead of looking for the positive.
Cwt-- I think to we need to be honest with ourselves
cakelady --yes, that's the best way
cwt --if we are feel angery or hurt or whatever face it and take that emotion to God
sunshine-- Sometimes our emotions can help us understand what we really believe, deep down... and sometimes help us to evaluate our beliefs in the light of His word.
Spud-- A verse which was very helpful for me was "whatever is pure, whatever is right, whatever is true dwell upon these things.
Cwt-- great verse spud. I love that verse
Cakelady-- when we arnt able to deal with the pain or hurt of something, I think we grieve and not even realize it. That has happened to me before.
Spud-- God has also set us free, we don't have to be a victim. Freedom comes through jesus chritst
Cwt-- yes there is freedom in Jesus Christ
Cwt-- I think that one of the most freeing things is knowing that God is in control and has my best interest at heart
Cakelady-- yes, there is comfort in knowing that.
Spud-- yes
Sunshine-- Reminds me of a verse in Lamentations, cwt, that was a big help to me.
Sunshine-- Lam 3:32-33 ...though he brings grief, he will show compasion, so great is His unfailing love...
Cwt--I remember going through a difficult time and someone saying to me that God didn't blink and then say "Oh my goodness look at what Happened" He knews and has a hand in everything that is going on
Sunshine-- It can be hard to remember that, though, when you're in the midst.
cakelady --So true
cwt-- I had to remind myself of that often
Spud-- this is true but we can't dwell on our feelings
Spud --we may feel out of controll but God Almighty is in controll cakelady If we keep pressing in, He ultimitely gets the victory and we do to
Cwt-- I love the verse in Jerm 29:11
cakelady --yes sunshine Me too! It's a lifeline in hard times.
cakelady --I have to remind myself of that but it is so good
cakelady-- I agree, sunshine
cwt --I know the plans I have for you.....plans to prosper not to harm
cakelady-- so soothing to hear

Cwt-- Where can wereceive help for healing? S
Sunshine --Another that helped me when I was aching one summer was Gal. 2:20... sitting at camp, it really hit me...He loved me, and gave Himself for me.
Spud-- Through the holy spirit
sunshine --The truth of the Word of God.
Cwt-- yes we can deffinately go to God and allow him to minister to us
Cakelady-- I find help when it seems overwhelming by forcing myself into praise, worship and intercessing
Cakelady--- Then the victory comes
Cwt-- Like David did so often in the Palms
Cakelady-- Sometimes i have a hard time getting there though Its a choice
Cakelady-- yes, like David. There just isnt always someone to run to
Cwt-- I find that reading the Psalms really helps
sunshine --Sometimes God ministers through trusted friends, who can bring His word to bear on the challenge.
Cakelady-- yes, love the Psalms
Cwt-- so often it expresses what I am feeling
Cwt-- Yes good solid Christian friends are important
Cakelady-- yes, sometimes I pray that God will put me on someone's heart and they call and we pray. It's such a blessing
Sunshine-- that's neat, cakelady
cakelady --Sometimes, It's God and me and we fight the enemy together
cakelady --He's so good. But there is victory in good counsel

cakelady-- It feels special when God puts me on someone's heart. I feel so loved by Him
cwt --How can we deal with anger or unforgiveness in a healthy manner?
Sunshine-- especially when you know it had to be Him to do it!
Cakelady --yes
sunshine --Acknowledge our anger.
Cwt-- yes
cakelady --Be honest with God on how we are feeling it a good place to start
Spud --so true
cwt --the Bible talks about not allowing ourselves to sin in our anger
Faith --And ask God to help us forget the wrong committed against us.
cakelady --Our will is important in this too
Faith-- True
Cakelady-- yes, Faith
Cwt-- forgivenes is a choice
Faith-- We need to choose to forgive others. Usually that isn't an easy thing to do.
Spud-- I was just going to say that
Sunshine-- And sometimes, it can be a process...like that onion, cwt.
Faith-- Absolutely
cwt --sometimes it takes asking God to help us forgive
cakelady --the flesh wants to be right and hold on to it, so it really can be a choice
Faith-- We often feel forgiveness it letting the other person off the hook.
cwt --it is only through God's power that we have the ability to forgive and forget
Spud --By choosing forgiveness we gain freedom
cakelady --very true
cwt-- forgiveing is actually freeing
cakelady-- yes, it really is
cwt-- unforgiveness becomes bitterness and that keeps us in bondage
cakelady-- We never win by holding on to it
Spud --WE are the ones who are hooked
Cwt-- but yes sunshine forgiving can be just like that onion
Faith --A verse that helped me is: Eph 4:32 Be Kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Cwt-- good verse to remember
Cakelady-- Being offended is like this as well
Cwt-- how so..
cakelady --We can choose to allow the offense to eat at us or
cakelady-- Ask God to help us not to be offended
cwt-- great point
cakelady-- I have been there and it truly works. Its so freeing too
Faith-- Another thing that really helped me was to realize forgiveness was a process and we can forgive, again and again if necessary.
Cakelady-- The enemy is like a roaring lion lurking about to see who he can devour
Cwt-- yes....just when you think you dealt with it it crops up again
Faith-- You are right there cwt.
sunshine --The process applies especially when there are ongoing offences, new hurts to deal with.
cakelady --He'll try any or all to trip us up
cwt-- thats for sure sunshine
cakelady-- yes, it takes conscious effort
cwt --Where can we draw our strength to restore complete healing?
cakelady --I'm so glad for the Holy Spirit
Faith --We get our strength through the Holy Spirit.
cakelady --Continuing to walk in love and seek the Holy Spirit. I'm seeing just how powerful love is
cwt-- allowing the Holy Spirit to fill us and control our lives
cakelady --yes
cwt --if we do that we will see the fruits of the spirit in our lives and one of the fruits is peace
cakelady--Also keeping our mind renewed with the truth
cwt --Galations 5:22 talks about the fruits of the spirit
cakelady-- The devil loves to speak lies to us and its our job not to entertain those lies
Faith-- My favorite verse about peace is: Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 5:1
Cwt-- Yes we do need to be in the word of God to keep ourselves ground in God's truth
Cakelady-- Great verse, Faith
Sunshine-- To what extent do you think "complete healing" will be accomplished this side of glory?
Cwt-- good question
Sunshine-- or, how would you define "complete healing"?
Cwt-- I think that when you are in the midst of trials you feel that this hurt will never go away
cakelady --yes
cwt-- I think that complete healing does not mean that we won't bear the scars of our difficulties
cakelady --That's where our tesimoney is
cwt --it is the scars of trials that define us and make us into the person we are. Like steel strenghtn by fire
Faith-- That is true
Cakelady-- Reminds me of the song the "Refiners, Fire"
cwt --but healing comes with acceptance of God's sovereignty and God's plan in our lives and the ability to move beyond
Faith --And I think it is important to remember that we need to hold on to our hope. Bad circumstances won't last forever and often a blessing is just around the corner.
Cwt-- Yes..
Cakelady-- And when the victory comes we are able to minister to someone else
Faith-- Very true.
Cakelady-- One of my favorite verses is"Now to Him who is able to do exceedenly more than we are able to think or imagine. I hold on to this in those times that are overwhelming. I think its in Eph. 3:20
Faith-- Personally, the Lord has done an incredible work in my heart. He alone, healed me from circumstances I never thought I would get through. I can honestly say that I just don't feel the hurt the way I used to.

cwt --the saying "time heals" is true as long as you are not a turtle

cwt --if you open up to God and allow him to control in your life he will heal you in his time

cwt --Sometimes it is those big things, and sometimes for me it can be the simple things sunshine like a beautiful sunset?
Cwt-- Like the sun shining or a beautiful flower opening up in the garden

Darling --I delight in those simple things also --when least expected God will show Himself in the most unlikely people that we have around us---I have learned to see past what seems to be something negative portrayed on the outside to that spirit that lies beneath and when we connect on this plane it gives me the utmost joy!

cwt --When we talk about finding joy in the heap of life though, it implies that the 'heap' is negative, or overwhelming
cwt-- In that situation, what robs us of that joy?
Faith-- I think we can sometimes get into a bad pattern of negativity. It can become a vicious circle.
Carol-- i would like to ask if anyone would pray for my little boy who has seizures and has just started school
Faith-- It gets to be a habit with some personalities.
Cwt-- So true Faith....we react negatively right away
Darling --By being deceived into thinking that it will be downhill all the way instead of a start to a new and better understanding of others and ourselves
cwt --How old is your son Carol?
Carol-- 5

cwt-- Has he just started having seizures Carol? ann howday
cwt --Or are they ongoing?
Cwt-- Let's pray for Carol's son before we go on...
Darling-- I would like to pray for your little guy that God would undertake for him.
Cwt-- Father, Carol has asked us to pray for her son...we don't know much about the seizures, but we just life him up before You, and ask that You would undertake for Him. Touch Him. And give Carol peace as she walks through this time in their lives. Amen
Faith-- Father, we pray for healing for Carol's son. We pray that his health will be restored. And help his family to cope with this difficult health problem. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Caro--l no he had meningitis as a baby he went from yearly to monthly too weekly now about every 2 months thank you
Carol-- we are now trying to get them under control but school is difficult for him he is a little dvelopmentally delayed

cwt --Especially when we are in difficult sutations, it is important to remember what God's word says is true

cwt --There is only one bible carol...why do you ask?
Faith-- And if we are not fully trusting God in the situation and that He alone will bring us through, it does rob us of our joy.
cwt --so true faith!
Carol-- it seems so many are going to different versions like niv i have a real problem with that
Faith --Sometimes I still need to remind myself of this.
Cwt-- Why do you have a problem with that carol?
Faith-- I have an NIV and a King James. The only difference is NIV is written in plain English and King James is very difficult for me to understand.
Cwt-- I think what you said is really key to having joy in our lives faith...believing and trusting God in the situation
cwt --and reminding ourselves that He hasn't changed, and that the promises in His word haven't changed either.
Carol-- I believe the KJV is the perfect word of GOD and that the niv takes out so many things that is scares me
Faith-- It does mean putting God in the drivers seat. When we do that it sure eliminates the worry that robs us of joy.
Sunshine-- A specific example would be like yesterday's lesson in 1 Peter 5--ending w/ the verse re: His care for us. I can choose to either believe it or not--it doesn't change the truth, but changes my perspective.

Faith --I am not sure carol, but it is used in the church I attend. It is an Alliance Church that is Bible teaching.

cakelady-- Oh, yes can be challenging at times
cwt-- and we were just talking about the importance of believing God and His promises
cakelady-- I can see where it is vital to have, its our strength
cwt-- Coming back to you question about Bible Translations Carol...the King James was just one translation, into the language of the time...which was 16th centuiry
Faith --By believing the Word of God then we can feel joy regardless of the circumstances.
Cwt-- Today, we have many different versions, but the actual translations don't change that much cwt-- they just use language that we are familiar with
Cakelady-- Joy is important even in healing the natural body, doctors are finding this true
Faith --Yes, that is what I like with the NIV. "Familiar Language" is an excellent way to word it.
Cwt-- You are so right cakelade!
Faith-- Good point cakelady! cwt That is why in some extended care homes they actually show comedies every day
sing4jsus-- The NIV is an interpretation, not a translation.....the NLT is a translation.
cakelady --I said something funny to my husband last night and l laughed all day about it and he did too
cwt-- when we laugh our body releases endorphins...they make us feel good
cwt-- the same way some people feel good when they run..exercise releases endorphins too
Darling --We use many versions in our bible fellowship as it is impossible to translate the original Hebrew and Greek into one and the same word so often more and difeerent words must be used to grasp the full meaning. The meaning always must remain the same---theessence of God's Word must be maintained .
sing4jsus-- well, maybe what I meant to say was the nlt is a paraphrase.....and the niv is translation. sorry if I confused anyone.
Carol-- I just read 3 books on the niv and kjv and there are many and the niv took out the blood so many times and i know that the blood of jesus iss the most important without his blood we would all be lost that is what i dont understand

Cwt-- I live with chronic pain and laughter is sooo important!

Darling-- Laughter revs up our serotonin---that makes us heal and feel better! We laugh alot in our family that is the only way we got through sooooooo many grungies in our lives!!!

Faith-- And it is also good when we are able to laugh at ourselves.

cakelady --Our daughter went away to college this past year and came back a different girl. Totally rejected us and what we believe. Has broken our hearts.
Cwt-- we need to learn not to take ourselves to seriously~

cwt-- has she turned her back on God then?
cakelady --Yes very sad

cwt --Father, we want to lift up cakelady to you right now...you know her heart and how hard this is for them. Please give her grace to continue to show love to her daughter, and would you by your spirit, work in her daughter's life to bring her back to You first, and to her family as well. Amen
Faith --Father, we pray for cakelady's daughter. Please show yourself to her. Help her to turn to you and not reject the teachings of her youth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Cakelady-- Thank you so much ladies cakelady I was numb for so long and didnt even realize it, but then God cakelady He is turning me around

Darling-- Dear Jesus, we wqnt to lift up cakeladies daughter and ask that the veil will be removed from her eyes---that is the deception---and that she will feel God's awesome presence in her life---that she will return to the truth taught by her mother. Carol-- my joy is threw my children and how god, as young as they are, is already working in them

carol --my 6 year old son tells everyone he wants to preach the word when he grrowsuup

Darling-- By changing our thinking to one of God's perspectives rather than our own. I'm like Peter I so often look at the stormy waves and take my eyes off Jesus---it is then I sink from joy.
Cwt-- It is called Spiritual Breathing...we exhale, that is confess our sins, in this case the discouragement, or ungrateful heart

Cakelady-- I agree cwt After I confess the sin, then I ask the Holy Spirit to fill me again...I breathe in more of Him

cwt --So instead of trying to control my life, I allow God thru His Spirit to control it instead

Darling-- I know I cannot rely on anything of myself but it must be trusting only in the Holy Spirit---that is not always easy to do---but it is a decision---a mindset.

Joy-- sometimes I realize that I have not even asked the Father if I should do something

cwt --We were talking about how we need to be thankful, even in the tough times...and that helps us to find joy

cwt--carol, what you said is soo true! in the midst of the trial, you have to look for those things to be thankful for!
Joy-- you know I have found that anger really messes up my joy
Faith 99Yes, we need to choose an attitude of joy. It is so easy to be fault finders in all sorts of different situations.

Cakelady-- Its easy to allow others to rob us.
