With summer vacation having come to an abrupt end, it seems that all the relaxing that took place is threatening to became unraveled in the frenzy of getting our lives back into the ratrace. The back to school shopping, preparing of fall calendars and fall church schedules are taking their toll in overwhelming us.
Is it possible for us as women to maintain a spirit of calmness as we try and try to negotiate order in spinning the wheel of life?
I know as I endeavor each year to bring sanity into my life in a new and fresh way in my schedule - I tend to tackle too much and feel the pressure of my commitments.
As women we know we cannot do all things and be all things to all people but we struggle to live our lives in that way - even as believers.
Please join us for these discussions as we share with one another ways and ideas of how to stay strong and calm in the midst of many demands.
1. How do you find the fall - energizing or exhausting? Why?

cwt It is probably one of the most difficult things that we struggle with as women.

cwt We try to be all things to all people ... and then we get so frustrated.

blessing its hard but to learn what our priorities are and to set up a schedule that includes our family priorities, work, husband and our spiritual gifts. Everyting else we can put second
cwt I think in theory we get it down - pat .... then it is so hard to implement - especially when it feels "unchristian" to say no.

cwt I found a neat secret .... when possible I put a time period on a commitment. For example I will commit to something for a month or two - and then schedule a time for reevaluation.

cwt It's the long term commitments that become very daily and overwhelming.

cwt I find in times like August .... we plan the fall - and hypothetically it all looks so different than it does realistically when you combine everyone's schedules.
Rockcity that's why I love September. A time to start fresh and get things back on track or try a different strategy

Rockcity In some ways I feel refocused.
cwt I think spiritual focus is something we always can struggle with - but each season has a new reason.

blessing But we know if we seek God first He will honor that and give us back our time
cwt Sometimes with more structure in my life - I find it easier to schedule in quiet time than I do during holiday times.

cwt When I feel I need spiritual strength I sometimes rely on my own strength and try to make things happen .... or I do what I should - and go to the Word, pray and have a time of spiritual renewal.

cwt Another thing that helps for spiritual renewal is praying while driving ... just shutting off tapes and radio - what a neat time with God that can be.

Tani All He is asking us to love Him not even to worship Him. He does not want even our worship

darlaw i have a great friend - I call her my Smart girlfriend - she has great wisdom and I count on her when I'm in trouble

cwt Talking to others - asking others to pray makes a big difference for me in a practical sense even though it i s religious

Tani I am talking about being not religious but a practical Christian. In every thing it is easy to say pray or I am waiting on the lord but it is a real life we live in a real world and we worship a real God. we need get in tough with him real way and how do you all do it.

cwt To know God's will - there are usually several factors to consider.
darlaw often He speaks to me through His Word and as I pray

cwt sometimes He uses the wise counsel of someone who is in tune with God - and possibly knows you quite well.

cwt Then to take all these things into consideration .... and pray that the Holy Spirit guides us ... we begin to act in the direction we sense we are being led.

darlaw My neighbour just told me of great stress in her life, and depression - she said she wanted to meditate - I gave her a New Testament and suggested reading John and she was thrilled

cwt I was at a meeting last night - we were discussing how exhausted people get when they are not working in their areas of giftedness.
lark That's again where there's a danger of overload. You spend time with people and often don't realize when you are overextending yourself.

cwt I think we rationalize that this is temporary ... but it goes on for a long time ...

cwt I know several women who are going through burn-out ..... super productive women who suddenly crash and can only do one thing in a day.

lark Our times with the Lord each day are to get His marching orders and trust Him to empower us for the task(s) He's planned for us and not be scattered as we so often do on our own agenda.
