spoken word has a powerful influence to encourage or to destroy. This
discussion will focus on how we can develop wise words in our everyday
conversation.

blessing yes, when that happens it is the Holy Spirit working through us

blessing oh some bad stuff!
cwt The exact opposite can happen ..... so much stuff can happen that is so painful.

Spud It ends up hurting the other person
Shey I've have spoken words of encouragement and then found out it was the person needed at that moment
cwt Some of those words can hurt for a lifetime.

cwt Even when there is forgiveness .... sometimes trust is forever broken
blessing we can never take the words back, that is the problem
cwt I was reading through Genesis today ... and the story of Joseph and how he forgave his brothers really struck me.

cwt It must have been so hard when they truly sent out to destroy him.
blessing often we wonder why we said what we did when it is hurtful, and how we can avoid that ever again
soulsister but the holy spirit in you can do it
cwt We are not responsible for what people say .... and yet we react to it all the time.

blessing James 3:8 says that no man can tame the tongue, It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison, ... so where does our help and hope come from?

Spud Sometimes you mean to say the right thing but it comes out all wrong. And it seems that you have miscommunicated some how.
cwt If you take a feather pillow to the top of hillside - and shake out all the feathers .... and then gather them all back together .... that is like trying to undo gossip.

Shey I think of a situation I know of now where talking behind some ones back can cause a lot of hurt
Spud We gossip because I think you just want something to talk about. Maybe be accepted by the group your with!
cwt and build up our self esteem by tearing others down can cause gossip to run away with us.
blessing trying to suppress ugly words is like attacking a termite problem by squashing a few bugs that venture out... unless we fumagate the entire area we will not get to the depth of the problem
cwt It hurts soooo much to find out someone we trusted was talking about us behind our backs.

Shey alot of time we talk acording to how we feel and forget to think how our words are going to effect others

peggy being born again has different steps like ya know when babys are born thats why we must forgive others
cwt I think every time the conversation turns into gossip - we have the option of turning things around and making a positive influence.
blessing I think it takes a change of heart and to avoid gossip we can turn a conversation around by praying or ceasing the conversation
Shey maybe by praying ourselves before we get together that we won't do that
Spud Be interested how the other women are doing! Ask questions that are to the person!

cwt Especially when we are feeling negative about someone who may have hurt us and we feel like letting everyone know what they are "really" like?

cwt Or ... there is also the time when we are praying for someone .... and the prayer request goes a step further and becomes gossip. It really is a heart attitude.

Shey we really need to ask ourselves how we would feel if we were the person being gossiped abouy

cwt What about deception ..... that is an entirely different topic .... how do we rise above deceitfulness?

cwt One of the most difficult things but BEST things we can do is PRAY PRAY PRAY for those who persecute us.

peggy sometimes things happen that we don't understand but like Joseph what was ment for evil will be for good
cwt It is in those dark days we really can grow and learn and be refined ... but it is very much our choice.

cwt That is right .... Joseph had a lot going against him ... he was lied about (Potiphar's wife) ... and slandered and he rose above it.

cwt You know I have had times when I wondered if there was something wrong in a relationship .... and didn't sense anything from the Lord, so I remained silent for a season.

cwt When we are tempted to judge or criticize someone
soulsister but my husband said they didn't have the ears to hear
