Celebrate the Season
Tis' the season to entertain. These days, "being jolly" has taken a back seat to the multitude of parties, plays and dinners we attend every Christmas. But no other time of the year is better suited to sharing Christ with our friends and family than the season that celebrates His birth.
Everyone loves a party. So why not take the opportunity to host a Christmas gathering and share the true meaning of Christmas with your non-believing friends and co-workers?
Lou Lloyd-Wiebe has been hosting Entertaining With A Purpose (EWAP) parties for 21 years. She is the founder and coordinator of the EWAP strategy for Campus Crusade for Christ, Canada. A self-proclaimed lover of parties, Lou enjoys creating a comfortable, social atmosphere in which people enjoy good food, good company and, most importantly, good news.
"Entertaining With A Purpose is one of the most natural and effective evangelism tools today," says Lou. "It is a way to reach your friends, neighbours and business associates who will not attend church. And it's a strategy that fits all segments of society."
An EWAP may take the form of a dinner party, desert and coffee, or even a theme party, like Western or Hawaiian. Whatever you want! Just make it comfortable and fun. Your guests receive invitations explaining that someone will speak on "the Reality of Christianity in Today's World" or, to make it seasonal, "Why We celebrate Christmas." Women Today is able to provide speakers, who are trained to communicate the gospel in a non-threatening manner. After a clear gospel presentation, guests are given an opportunity to invite Christ into their life.
Christmas is the time of year that lends itself to social gatherings. Why not use the opportunity to share God's love and forgiveness with those who have not yet heard?
