Apple and Cheese Grill

Tasty grilled sandwiches to serve at any time of the day! The sweet apple slices add a slight crispness to the otherwise soft filling.

Raisin bread slices (about 3/4 inch, 2 cm, thick)

Hard margarine (or butter), softened

Honey mustard

Thin ham slices

Large cooking apple (such as McIntosh), peeled and thinly sliced (about 1 1/2 cups, 375 mL)

Grated sharp Cheddar cheese

Spread 1 side of each bread slice with margarine. Place 4 bread slices, margarine-side down, on cutting board. Spread with mustard.

Layer with ham, apple and cheese. Place remaining 4 bread slices, margarine-side up, on top of cheese. Preheat electric grill for 5 minutes or gas barbecue to medium. Cook sandwiches on greased grill for about 6 minutes per side until golden and cheese is melted. Makes 4 sandwiches.
